The last required opinion to Industria’s application for the issuance of the decision in principle for building the Rolls-Royce SMR power plant has been prepared

In connection with the application submitted by Świętokrzyskie Industrial Group Industria on December 14, 2023 to the Polish Minister of Climate and Environment – Ms. Paulina Hennig-Kloska for the issuance of the decision in principle for the investment in the construction of nuclear power plant facilities using Rolls-Royce SMR technology, we would like to inform that the opinion process to the application by the Ministers obliged under the Act of June 29, 2011 on the preparation and implementation of investments in the field of nuclear power plant facilities and accompanying investments, has been completed.

On February 15, 2024 we received a positive opinion from the Polish Minister of State Assets, Mr. Borys Budka and on April 18, 2024 an opinion of the Chief of the Polish Internal Security Agency has been issued, indicating a positive impact of the investment planned by INDUSTRIA on the internal security of the state. The third opinion has been also issued by the Chief Geologist of the Country regarding the impact of the planned investment on the state’s raw materials policy.

“The positive opinion from the Internal Security Agency is a very important document for us, not only because it is the last opinion we have been waiting for and the Minister of Climate and Environment has complete documentation to decide on issuing the decision in principle. The positive opinion from the Internal Security Agency is important for us primarily because in this opinion, the Agency – responsible for the internal security of the state, as well as for supervising the energy sector – confirms that our planned investment has a positive impact on the security of the Republic of Poland. Since Putin’s gas blackmail and Russia’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine, energy security has been the most important goal of our actions within the framework of the Łaszczyński Brothers Central Hydrogen Valley created by INDUSTRIA. We hope that based on cooperation within the Brothers Central Hydrogen Valley, it will be possible to build a significant order portfolio from several entities for SMR units using Rolls-Royce technology, giving the Polish side a strong negotiating position in negotiations on the delivery terms of individual units, as well as, above all, in terms of the participation of the Polish industry in a supply chain for RR SMRs and thus the creation of attractive jobs in Poland” – said Szczepan Ruman, President of the Management Board of INDUSTRIA.

In 2022 we signed a memorandum with Rolls-Royce SMR initiating cooperation aiming at the implementation of small modular reactors (SMRs) using Rolls-Royce technology in Poland. In the first quarter of 2024 we expanded the circle of partners developing the project based on Rolls-Royce SMR technology in Poland by signing a letter of intent with the British investment fund Chiltern Vital Group (CVG).

We warmly welcome the achievement of another important milestone by INDUSTRIA on the road to deliver clean energy in Poland from stable sources, such as the SMR units of the renowned British company Rolls-Royce.” said Chris Turner, President of the Management Board of CVG.
