The third meeting of the Central Hydrogen Cluster is behind us!

The group has grown by another 6 entities. 25th International Power Industry and Renewable Sources of Energy Fair ENEX has also ended, during which it was possible to visit the stand of the Central Hydrogen Cluster.

March 8, 2023 is a date that will go down in the history of the Cluster for a long time. The congress hall was attended by an eminent group of experts from various environments and industries – including from the energy sector as well as commercial enterprises interested in hydrogen. Representatives of central and local authorities were also present.

Immediately before the meeting of the Central Hydrogen Cluster, the year of activities of the Kaganek Foundation was summed up and the floor was given by Eliza Dzwonkiewicz, Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Lviv. Małgorzata Gawęcka, President of the Kaganek Foundation, and Magdalena Rybak, Director of the Center for Peace in the Heart of Europe, briefly presented the Foundation’s activities:

The ”In Solidarity” Programme, implemented by the Świętokrzyskie Industrial Group INDUSTRIA Foundation, has carried out 35 humanitarian shipments since March 2022. More than 1,000 pallets of aid comprising foodstuffs, generators, inverters, ready-made food boxes, medical equipment were delivered in this manner, which went directly to Lvov, from where they were distributed to the most remote destinations found on the map of Ukraine. Thanks to the additional cooperation, humanitarian aid exceeding PLN 3,300,000 was delivered to Ukraine together with the help of our Foundation over the span of the last year.

The meeting was also preceded by a presentation of Rolls-Royce SMR based on the recently signed memorandum. Rolls-Royce SMR is developing a fleet of small modular reactors for the global market. The supply chain is divided into several factories, which maximizes the efficiency and repeatability of the production of unified modules from which the entire power plant is built.

Szczepan Ruman – the President of the Management Board of ŚGP INDUSTRIA – while announcing the Rolls-Royce presentation on SMR – said:

We see this as a great opportunity for the Polish economy. Some people sometimes say that decarbonization will be an incredible burden – we don’t see it that way. We see an opportunity in this – we see an opportunity for economic development, we see an opportunity for tens of thousands of jobs in Poland.

He added that an ambitious, but realistic goal is to build a modular power plant in Poland, possibly in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodship, by 2032. The aim of ŚGP INDUSTRIA is to build a supply chain of unified parts and modules for SMR production both for the Polish market and for export. As a leader of Central Hydrogen Cluster, Industria is looking to deploy up to three SMRs to produce hydrogen and decarbonise regional energy infrastructure.

Alan Woods – Rolls-Royce SMR’s Director of Strategy and Business Development – said:

The modular solutions proposed by Rolls-Royce create the potential for Polish companies to enter the supply chain for many years. These types of projects will require specialized parts, modules and components for many years to come.

During the presentation, he emphasized the importance of the local community in the project. Ireneusz Zyska – Secretary of State, Government Plenipotentiary for Renewable Energy Sources also spoke:

We can make big dreams come true. A great project that will serve to supply end users with cheap, clean energy, system heat, but also the production of zero-emission hydrogen using energy that is produced in high-temperature reactors.

Cezariusz Lesisz – President of the Management Board of IDA JSC. also spoke about the project:

We are at the beginning of the road. These are very important challenges. Today we declare our commitment to Rolls-Royce SMR that they have met reliable partners. This is a challenge, because this technology is of the highest class and will require the highest quality.

The following Entities joined the Central Hydrogen Cluster:

The Enprom company is currently one of the largest Polish power engineering construction companies, which specializes in the construction of power lines and substations, comprehensive preparation of investments and designing power infrastructure. Today, ENPROM supports the national transmission network operator, is responsible for maintaining thousands of kilometers of high-voltage lines and cooperates with all regional distribution companies in Poland. The company also implements projects on the European Union markets.

In go&management, they offer comprehensive support in the production, transport, storage and refueling of hydrogen. To meet the needs and the most ambitious challenges, they offer tailor-made solutions. For over three years, they have been actively involved in the implementation of hydrogen technologies on the Polish market.

KPT – Kielce Technology Park – is a place focused on innovation and creativity and open to cooperation with entrepreneurs from all over Poland and abroad. They help entrepreneurs at almost every stage of company development. We are talking about small and medium-sized entities, start-ups, students, but also large enterprises. The park offers modern and professionally prepared infrastructure and developed investment areas.

Heat not lost – their offer is addressed to enterprises that need professional support in the implementation of projects aimed at improving energy efficiency – from the audit, through financing, to the implementation of the investment.

Rolls-Royce SMR’s ‘factory-built’ nuclear power station will generate 470 MW of clean, affordable energy – enough to power a million homes. Each Rolls-Royce SMR will provide consistent electricity generation for at least 60 years – helping decarbonise the grid and industry to achieve our net zero targets.

One of the two trade fair leaders in Poland. 90 000 m2 of exhibition space, including 36 000 m2 in 7 pavilions with modern infrastructure. In 2022 Targi Kielce was visited by over 310,000 Guests, Exhibitors and Visitors. Targi Kielce – the second organizer of fairs and exhibitions in Central and Eastern Europe. The calendar includes 70 fair events and exhibitions as well as 700 conferences a year.

The event was also accompanied by an exhibition dedicated to scientists and entrepreneurs from Świętokrzyskie – Stanisław and Bolesław Łaszczyński, courtesy of the National Museum in Kielce [Inventors from Miedzianka – INDUSTRIA].

Stand as part of the Łaszczyński Brothers’ Central Hydrogen Cluster was co-created by the Świętokrzyskie Industrial Group INDUSTRIA together with Rolls-Royce SMR, SBB ENERGY S.A., ML System S.A. and ENERVIGO.

At the stand, visitors could see the Jaźwica Mine in Chęciny on a scale of 1:600 and hear about the concept of closed mine water circulation used in the electrolysis process to produce green hydrogen. The model also presented future installations of renewable energy sources, i.e. a photovoltaic farm and wind turbines. You could also take a look at the green hydrogen plant and a dump truck refueled in the area. Our representatives also talked about the green transformation and ambitious plans of INDUSTRIA, as well as the opportunities offered by membership in the Central Hydrogen Cluster.

Thanks to Rolls-Royce SMR, it was possible to get acquainted with a mock-up of a modular nuclear reactor (SMR), as well as learn more about its construction and the use of individual components, as well as ask how the safety of such technologies is ensured and how the supply chain is created.

ML SYSTEM S.A. presented a prototype high-pressure electrolyser for hydrogen production operating at low voltage, which allows integration with photovoltaic installations. The creators willingly answered topics related to the construction of the device and improving its efficiency thanks to selected solutions.

SBB ENERGY S.A. presented its services in the field of commissioning, mechanical assembly, electrical and I&C installations as well as comprehensive specialist works. Enervigo representatives, on the other hand, answered about their capabilities in the comprehensive process of energy transformation of enterprises.
